What is Adopt a Family program?

Each year, Adopt a Family programs provide gifts of new clothes, toys, food and other items to low-income families and families in need in the Kansas City and Overland Park area. Over the years, the Adopt a Family program has allowed an opportunity for many selfless and compassionate people to share in the holiday spirit (as in the case of Adopt a Family Christmas program) by sponsoring - or adopting:

• single parent families,
• low-income families with children, or
• seniors on fixed incomes.

Without the support of so many Adopt a Family sponsors and the tireless energy of so many volunteers, many Kansas City residents and nearby areas would experience much less happiness during the holiday season. Compassionate people are encouraged to adopt a family for the holidays.

What does it take to adopt a family?

It takes less than you think to adopt a family for the holidays. The adopt a family program does not make demands of how much you should sponsor or spend to adopt a family. You contribute however much you can and have resources for. Sometimes, you may not be in a position to adopt a family but may want to contribute to giving odd items such as household items, food, clothes, and other accessories. That is perfectly appreciated.
