Prostitutes in Overland Park
Two women were arrested in Overland Park KS for prostitution on Wednesday. Both women advertised for massage services on Backpage. But, when officers replied to the ads, there were invited to apartments in Overland Park and were offered a lot more than just massage for cash. This is not the first time this year that people were busted in Overland Park for prostitution.
Who were arrested for prostitution?
Wan Chang (RHS) age 39, and Wei Wei Tiam (LHS) age 50 were arrested at their Overland Park apartments in separate locations for prostitution.

Wan Chang was accused of operating a prostitution business at an apartment in the Brownstone Apartment complex at 6121 Foster ave, Overland Park, KS 66202. Wei Wei Tiam’s apartment is at 105th and Garnett in Overland Park.
Overland Park Apartment Robbed
A robbery occurred at an apartment complex near the intersection of 124th street and Antioch in Overland Park KS yesterday night. A 16-year-old girl and her mother were at their Whispering Hills Apartments apartment home on the 8900 block of West 124th Street in South Overland Park, the Blue Valley District. The robbers had a taser and a handgun. The crime occurred when a man put her in a headlock and held a gun to the girl’s head. Police said one man threatened to shoot her if she didn’t take him to her apartment. She refused at first. They used the taser gun on the mother at least 3-4 times and got away with about $4500 in cash.
How did the robbery happen?
The girl walked out of her apartment to her car to get a pencil for her homework at about 9:45pm in the evening and a man grabbed her in a headlock and put a gun to her head. The girl said that she could feel the gun on her head. The man then forced the girl to her home where he met another man at the door. Her mom was sleeping on the couch and they charged in and shocked her with a stun gun repeatedly. The two men demanded money, got away with quite a lot of cash (about $4500) and fled the scene.
Where did the robbery occur?
The robbery took place at the parking lot of Whispering Hills Apartments complex. The car where the teen was attacked was parked on the Whispering Hills Apartments property.
Who robbed the teen and her mother at an Overland Park apartment home?
The two men were described as two black males, each about 5′7″ to 5′8″ tall and wearing all black. One man had a blue bandanna over his face and the other did not. The men were between the ages of 16 and 22 years old.
First National Bank in Overland Park Robbed
Yesterday, Police chased and arrested a man they say robbed The First National Bank of Kansas in Overland Park in the afternoon on September 1, 2009.

What happened?
Just after 1 p.m., a man went through the drive-through lane and gave a teller a note asking for cash. The man said he was desperate and the note said there was a bomb in a school nearby and it demanded money. The clerk gave him the cash, police said. He drove away with the money but not for long.
Overland Park police and the Kansas Highway Patrol soon saw the man’s car and chased it for blocks until he ran into a curb and police arrested him, they said.
Rape in Overland Park
A woman said she was raped in a parking lot of a busy Overland Park shopping center last week. Overland Park Police said the 19-year-old woman was attacked on Thursday, August 20th, at about 7 p.m. in a parking lot near 119th Street and Metcalf Avenue. That’s where the big Super Walmart, Payless Shoes, the Guitar Center, as well as a few other stores. It is a busy shopping area as Walmart is usually busy around that time.
Overland Park Detective Matt Bregel said: “As soon as she got out of her car, she was approached by a white male who forced her back into the car,”. “(He) raped her. Took her cell phone and her keys and left on foot.”
The sexually assaulted victim said the man had no weapon and was a stranger. The woman was treated at an area hospital.
Suspect Rapist
Police are looking for a white man, 25 to 30 years old, with tan or olive skin. He has brown, wavy hair and brown eyes.
The victim thought he was about 6 feet tall. He could possibly be Italian. He wore a white tank shirt and blue sweat pants with white stripes on the sides. The police still has not arrested anyone. Anyone with information is urged to call Overland Park Police at (913) 895-6300.
Advice for other shoppers
Shoppers in the area should cautious about their surroundings. “I don’t get out of the vehicle without looking around,” said Marilyn Nickell. “I always have my keys in my hand. And I’ve taken a self-defense class and look everybody in the eye. And I always turn and look where I’m going.”

Museum in Overland Park
It is about time that there is a real museum in Overland Park KS. The City of Overland Park just approves a new museum development early this week. This is a huge project. It is centered around a museum which will showcase exhibits from the American Museum of Natural History, the Prairiefire Cultural Museum. The museum would feature a new exhibit every six months. The first five years’ worth of exhibits have already been scheduled.
The Overland Park City Approved the 60-acre Plan
The Overland Park City council approved the 60-acre plan on Monday.
When will this museum project start?
The developers hope to begin construction by the end of 2010 or early 2011.
How much will this project cost?
The project would require about $100 million in state and local tax incentives.
Where will this museum be built?
The City of Overland Park is hoping to turn the 135th Street area (135th and Nall) into a major tourist attraction. This area is bordering Leawood and is close to Kansas City MO so it would likely attract people from all over the KC Metro area.
What will be there?
There will be lots of things to be built around the museum. Prairiefire at LionsGate would also offer upscale:
