Question: Has anyone used KC Masterpiece or Yia Yia’s in Overland Park, KS for your rehearsal dinner?
I had a previous response recommending both of these places. But, I need to know if anyone actually used KC Masterpiece. They said they had a banquet room that would hold our party of 20 – 25. They said since we were a small group, the buffet would be in our room. I’ve never had their BBQ before…..always ate at Jack Stack. Jack Stack BBQ is booked on the date we need. KC said they had either white tableclothes and black utensils or vice versa. Do they mean plastic tableclothes and utensils? Do we need to decorate ourselves? Anyone using Yia Yia’s please let me know about how much it costs to rent the room and a general idea of the price of their food. Also, do they have linens and decorations? Is is elegant or what? Please help……I am in the state of Arkansas trying to plan this rehearsal dinner in Overland Park/Olathe Kansas.
Thanks CBT Princess. Your info is very helpful and I love the website you posted for me!
Answer: HI - I have been to all 3 of these places. Too bad Jack Stack is booked, they are great! I think K.C. Masterpiece will do a good job, and their food is decent. I'm sorry, it's been a while & I can't remember what the tablecloths and utensils were, but I thought they were real & not plastic - but best to verify, as the last time I went was some time ago.
Yia Yia's has some very creative cuisine - it can be pricy and pretty expensive - but maybe they will work out a menu for you? It's a very nice place & in a very upscale part of town.
American Bandstand also has a private room - I know people that have used it - it's pretty affordable.
the Hereford House in Leawood is also nice

Question: Anything interesting to do in Overland Park, KS?
I will be traveling to Kansas City, KS (Overland Park) for the first time in the beginning of May. I will be working 8-5pm during the week but I need some good tourist information on shopping, restaurants, hotels, nightlife and etc. Tell me what’s up!
Answer: It depends on what you're in to, I guess... yes, someone mentioned pitch.com--The Pitch is a local alternative newspaper with lots of entertainment news.
Good places to go include areas called Westport, The Plaza (a little more ritzy), and my personal favorite--the KU Med Center area has a small shopping area and some great restaurants.
Like Thai food? Just about every Thai restaurant in KC is fabulous! Like barbecue? We got the best. There's a renassaince festival, during the summer Starlight Theatre has entertainment under the stars. Kansas Speedway if you like racing, and several fun shopping districts.
You'll be fine!
